Sublimated Transfer Pressing Instructions

Step 1 - Setup Heat Press

● Set your heat press to385°F – 400°F
● Make sure the substrate is sublimation-ready and clean.
● Best results are on white polyester, light polyester fabrics, coated ceramics, towels, drinkware, and other sublimation-ready blanks
● Place the sublimated transfer on the substrate with the printed side facing down
● Use heat tape if needed to keep the transfer from shifting.

Step 2 - Time to Press

● Once aligned, close the heat press carefully to avoid moving the transfer.
● Press at medium pressure
● For polyester apparel, press for45–60 seconds
● For coated hard goods like mugs, drinkware, or ceramics, time and temperature may vary depending on the blank supplier’s instructions.

Step 3 - Peel & Press Again

● Open the press and remove the transfer paper immediately.
● Peel while hot using caution, as the transfer and substrate will be very hot.
● Allow the item to cool flat before handling or packaging.
● Do not press again unless required for that specific substrate.

Step 4 - What not to do

● Do not apply sublimated transfers on dark garments.
● Do not use on standard cotton garments unless the fabric has a sublimation coating.
● Do not move the transfer during pressing, as this can cause ghosting or blurry edges.
● Do not wash apparel for24 hours after pressing.
● Do not use fabric softener.

About Sublimated Transfers

Do sublimated transfers work on cotton?

Sublimated transfers are designed primarily for polyester and sublimation-ready surfaces. Cotton garments are not recommended for standard sublimation applications.

Do the prints feel raised?

No. Sublimation creates a smooth, zero-hand feel because the dye bonds into the surface itself.

Can I print full-colour artwork?

Yes. Sublimated transfers are excellent for gradients, vibrant colours, and detailed graphics.

Can I apply these to mugs and drinkware?

Yes. Sublimated transfers are commonly used on coated ceramics, mugs, drinkware, and other sublimation-ready hard goods.

Are sublimated transfers good for sportswear?

Yes. They are ideal for lightweight athletic apparel and performance garments because they maintain flexibility and breathability.
