How to Press Reflective Patches
Step 1 - Position Your Patch
Place the patch on the desired location of the garment. For accuracy, secure it with heat-resistant tape to keep it in place.
Step 2 - Prep for Pressing
Lay your garment on the heat press (or ironing board) with the patch face down and touching the bottom plate (or surface).
Step 3 - Cover & Press
Add a protective guard sheet or parchment paper over the garment to prevent damage. Set the heat press/iron to 325°F with hard pressure (70–80 PSI). Press for 20 seconds.
Step 4 - Cool Down
Wait for the garment to cool for at least 30 seconds, then carefully remove the heat tape. Cooling allows the melted glue to solidify and create a strong bond with the fabric.
Step 5 - Remove Thermal Tape
Once the garment has cooled, carefully remove the Thermal Tape. The patch should now be securely attached to the garment. For Thicker Fabrics (e.g., hoodies): Flip the garment inside out and press the reverse side of the patch for an additional 20 seconds.

What are reflective patches?
Reflective patches are fabric patches that incorporate reflective materials to bounce light back toward its source, increasing visibility in low-light or nighttime conditions. They’re commonly used on clothing, bags, and gear for safety or identification.
How do I attach a reflective patch to clothing?
Attachment methods include:
Iron-on: Applies heat to fuse the patch to fabric (follow the patch’s heat press instructions and test on a small area first). Sew-on: Requires stitching the patch around the edges.
Are reflective patches durable and washable?
Durability depends on the backing and attachment method. Our Heat Press application ensures 50+ washes on the patches, whereas the Sew-on patches tend to endure frequent washing better than iron-on patches, which can peel over time if not applied correctly.
What materials are used in reflective patches?
The most common materials are retroreflective microbeads or prismatic films (e.g., 3M Scotchlite). These are backed by fabrics or rubbers and can be finished with iron-on or sew-on application. Some patches use reflective threads woven into the patch fabric.
How visible are reflective patches in the dark?
Highly visible when illuminated by a light source (e.g., headlights, flashlights). The level of brightness is measured by retroreflectivity (candela per square meter, cd/m²). Patches meeting higher retroreflectivity standards are brighter and more conspicuous at greater distances.
